Just like the thousands of horny players before me, I purchased Acting Lessons by Dr PinkCake with the sole intention of spending a couple of evenings enjoying a simple dating simulator with some high quality cartoon titties.
And just like everyone else does, I would soon come to realise that by making my decision based off a sexy trailer and cute images of girls in lingerie (aka thinking with my dick), I had made a huge mistake to underestimate this game.
Acting Lessons is an adult visual novel with an incredibly rich and immersive story, stunning characters, and plenty of hot sex animations.
The game centres around you, a recently heartbroken crypto trader, telling the story of how you met an aspiring young actress named Megan under unfortunate circumstances and decided to help her out of a tough spot.
Unlike other visual novels in this genre, the story is anything but basic and superficial. The writing is engaging, exciting and makes you constantly thirst for more. The characters you meet are deep, multifaceted and demand your emotional investment. The graphics are breath-taking and will have you hard as a rock for hours on end.
As the drama-filled story goes on you are given multiple decisions to make, including which beautiful women you would like to pursue. These are genuinely tough, with your choices permeating throughout the game and affecting the people around you. There’s a whole lot of sex you could have… but at what cost to your relationships?
I would imagine most horny players try to fuck as many women as possible in their first play through. This is exactly what I did. However as the strong emotional connections between me and the characters kept forming I started to feel genuinely guilty about cheating on my girlfriend Megan, and started to wonder if the ending I would receive would be a positive one, or whether I’d be punished for the scumbag I am.
Whilst Acting Lessons is an adult game, in that it’s packed with realistic nudity and phenominal sex scenes, it’s also adult in that it is emotionally intricate. The story will draw you in and your heart will be pounded by the incredible highs and devastating lows. The game’s description boasts that many players can only find the strength to play it once, with hundreds of reviewers claiming it made them cry.
Most scenes within adult visual novels are the same regurgitated sexual fantasies, and although Acting Lessons does play into this, such as a sexy nurse fluffing your pillow whilst you lie in a hospital bed staring down her clevage, it goes so much further. There are countless locations within the story, from the local spa where the girls show off their bikini bodies, to the improv school classroom where you can flirt and tease, to the secluded holiday cabin which you share with five gorgeous girls.
There are seven girls within the game, all of whom you can have fun with. Each with their own unique style, body type, hair colour and breast size, you’re likely to be left very satisfied no matter your taste. However, it is notable that there are no plus size women and the girls are only of white ethnicity.
The sex positions and animations are different with each character and scene, providing both realism and prevents boredom from repetition. The graphics are strong and you can almost feel the softness of the girl’s skin as they bounce on top of you. That being said, the ejaculation scenes do feel a bit janky, as do closeups of the women’s labia during cunninglingus. Overall though I was extremely impressed!
Your decisions have a significant impact on your game and the ending, however all players still experience the same general storyline. Once you know what happens you are unlikely to feel the same emotions a second time round. For this reason, the replayability is limited. The game does have a gallery feature though, which allows you to rewatch the sex scenes you discover within your playthroughs. This also highlights scenes which you have missed, but doesn’t tell you how or where to get them, giving you a reason to go through again and again until you have unlocked all the sexy scenes waiting for you.
I absolutely loved Acting Lessons by Dr PinkCake. The graphics are great although there’s areas for improvement, the pacing can feel a bit off at times, and players who are simply looking for a porn game will hate how the second half feels completely different to the first. Overall though I sincerely believe this is one of the best adult visual novels on the market right now and highly recommend.
