Walk up Sex Brothels – Guide to German Laufhaus
If you are looking for cheap and easy sex in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, a walk-up sex brothel may be the answer to your prayers.
Yes, that’s right… what if you could simply walk into a building when you’re horny, browse available and willing girls (often in sexy lingerie), then enter their bedroom to have sex?! Amazing!
What is a Laufhaus?
A laufhaus is a type of brothel common in parts of Europe. It is a building with many small bedrooms, occupied by independent sex workers, and clients walk through the corridors to browse the available prostitutes, often signalled by an open door, before approaching them to make an offer.
The Laufhaus, literally meaning ‘running house’, is more commonly known as an Eros Center. These brothels are usually completely legal and are found within red light districts. Popular locations for these walk up bordellos include Vienna, Austria and Frankfurt, Germany.
Difference between a Brothel and Laufhaus?
The sex workers in a Laufhaus are completely independent and, in theory, keep 100% of the money they make from their services. They simply pay to rent the room within the Laufhaus. As the ladies are paying for rental, they can set their own prices or do whatever they want, including sleeping in the room if they choose.
A brothel is slightly different in that the sex workers usually pay a commission on their takings to the brothel management. The ladies may also be restricted by set prices and pre-determined services, and have to always be available for sex with clients during their shift.
What is it like inside an Eros Center?
Often in the heart of the red light district and surrounded by bars, nightclubs and casinos, you’ll find a number of walk-up bordellos. These buildings will be lit up red, especially the windows, and signs will make it known what’s inside… look out for ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, ‘XXX’ or ‘Eros’.
The doors to these brothels will usually be wide open to indicate they’re open, but not always. Many Eros Centers are free admission and may not even be staffed, although some may charge a small fee of €5.
You will usually walk up a staircase, passing other potential clients, as you walk through the corridors on each floor to view the available girls. There is sometimes a whole floor dedicated to transgender prostitutes, which should be clearly sign-posted. Availability is usually demonstrated with an open door, or a green light above. Where a door is open, you’ll often find the ladies standing or sitting inside trying to get your attention and beckon you in.

Once you have viewed all the available girls over multiple floors it’s time to make a decision. Either leave, or go to your favorite girl’s room (and hope she’s not now busy). Smile and introduce yourself, then ask what her price is. Ensure you completely understand what is being offered for the quoted price, asking questions to make sure there is no miscommunication. If you are not comfortable, simply walk away, the girls are unlikely to leave their rooms to follow you.
If you decide to go ahead, enter the room and the door will be closed behind you. Pay the girl upfront, get undressed, put the condom on, and get into your first position. Enjoy!
The laufhaus process is very similar to the red light windows in Amsterdam, although the brothel is inside and you are only seen by other potential clients rather than tourists.
How much is sex in a laufhaus?
The price of sex in walk up brothels varies drastically depending on which country you visit, the laufhaus venue, location, and the sex worker.
It’s important to remember that the ladies working in an eros center are independent and self-employed, meaning they set their own rates.
Covered oral and standard sex can cost anything from €25 to €80 for 20-30 minutes. In my personal experience the average price in a German laufhaus is €50. These prices certainly makes this a very cheap method of obtaining sex, with a girl you like, in a safe and comfortable environment.
